Peace and understanding

As I drifted off to sleep the other night I was praying, just as I always do when I am going to sleep each night. I have struggled for a very long time with organized religion. I know, I know, that sounds very strange. I had some bad experiences over the years that made me question some people's intentions when it came to churches. I have always told myself there are those that are bad out there and prey upon unsuspecting people. People willing to give of themselves. It has always made me sad and often question a lot of people's intentions.

But anyway, had to fill you in on that because what I am about to tell you won't make sense. Oh, let me back up for another minute. The other thing I have struggled with is the whole it takes a village to raise a child thing. After having twins I now understand the true meaning of that saying.

And one last thing I will say is I have truly missed having a church home. We just haven't tried out very many in the new area we live in and I am hoping we can change that in the near future.

But anyway, as I was saying. The other night as I was drifting off to sleep and praying, I actually felt like God answered those two questions for me. I felt like he was telling me that a church home is the village I was searching for. Does that sound strange? I have always had a very strong faith, whether I attend a church on a regular basis or not. He has carried me through many a thing in my life and I know will continue to do so. It all just made so much sense to me and brought so much comfort. I know we will find one here. I have no doubt about it. I just have felt so at home in this new place almost from the first day we came to search for houses just a little over a year ago.

Oh if my mother were not in myu village my child would never get raised! It takes many- not just the parents. So glad to hear that the biopsy went well- I am sure it will all be fine :)

I grew up Christmas and Easter Christian, but really came to value having a church home when we spent 2 years in L.A. Being in a new place without family was hard, but we found a new family. Now I can't imagine my life without it. Then when Chris was born (and all his health troubles) I was amazed at the strength and help of our church family who just helped and helped and helped. And it really is wondrous to have that village. We'd love to have you visit our church! (We go to Messiah where our MOPS group meets.)We have 8:15 and 11 a.m services and a 5:30 Saturday service. We'd love to see you there!

Glad to hear it! I always loved the Midwest (being from there, it's easy to say that, right?). My daughter loves to go back and visit and want to live back in WI. It's comfortable, and not as fast paced, I think. Religion is more basic there, too. The whole community revolves around it. My hometown is 7 bars, 7 bridges, and 7 churches. Can't beat that! :)
Life here is hectic. Real estate is still good; kids are bigger and sassier, but still fun. Went swimming last night with the fam and actually enjoyed getting splashed! They grow SO fast, I could just cry. I am glad to hear, too, that life is being fulfilled wonderfully with you at this point in time.

You have certainly seemed to adjust well to this place, Lee Anne. I too have had my issues with organized religion and don't attend a church--but I pray a LOT. (and it always makes me feel better)

I share many of your feelings about organized religion. I just have to remind myself, often, that people are people where ever I am, and there will always be good people and bad people regardless of the religion. I try to focus on the good things that religion brings to people, and that helps.

Hi Lee Anne! I just read your post about the great news about not having cancer...what a huge relief! I had a little scare about a month ago, too, and everything has turned out fine. I've also read about your recently finding a church home. I'm so happy for you that you have felt led to the right place. There's nothing better than feeling "fed" and at home. Just wonderful. Have a great day! :)
